Congratulations Ann & Dan!

This is LONG over due.

Ann & Dan were hitched on Saturday, August 8th... and it has taken me this long to put something up on the blog! Oh, my! We were unable to attend the wedding as it was just days after Edie's birth. Luckily, I knew their photographer (the super-duper Chad Richardson), so I was able to get a sneak peek of their wedding the day of the event.

Congrats you two... much love!

Little Edie's Baby Book BBQ Bash

Yesterday, my parents hosted a party for Edie's arrival. My mom wanted to make it sorta a BBQ, sorta a baby shower and sorta a BBQ. I think she did a pretty good job :)

We received a lot of wonderful books and gifts. With the birth of Edie, we've realized how fabulous and giving our friends and family are... not to mention random neighbors! We feel so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people and we thank each and every one of you for all that have you have given... both gifts and amazing support. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Anywho, here are some pictures of the party for your enjoyment :) You can find more on facebook by clicking here.

Facebook Galleries

The other day when I was visiting my grandma, I realized some of you are actually not on facebook. I've been posting a lot of photos there... much more than what you'll find here. I'll try to post links to all my family related galleries in the future, but in the meantime here are a couple photo galleries of Edie that you non-facebookers can access. Enjoy.

Three Weeks Old

I swear our little pork chop has gained two or more pounds this week. She's really filling out and noticeably heavier. I guess the round the clock feedings have paid off!

We are also noticing her eyes are turning more and more blue. Who knows what color they will be in the end... but, I'd put my bet on blue or maybe hazel. Only time will tell.

Edie's Birthday

It seems like so long ago now, but just a short 15 days ago our little PeanutPumpkinBeanSprout was born. I had been anti-birth pictures throughout my pregnancy, but when my friend, colleague and photographic role model Ann Arbor Miller offered to take photos of the Bean's birth, I couldn't say no. Ann Arbor is a fabulous photojournalist, and we felt honored to have her in the delivery room with us.

Now, there are a lot of photographs that Ann Arbor took that we love but will not be sharing with the world. Not sure if the world wide web is ready for that.

It was really important for us to have Sigur Ros playing during the birth.

Edie's birth was amazing, and happened really quickly. I couldn't have imagined how extremely happy I was going to be... could have had to do with the great epidural I was given. I was also pleased to have my mom in the delivery room with us.

Kris was able to go with the nurses to have Edie weighed and measured. On a side note, her APGAR scores were 9 and 9. Our healthy little bean sprout.

One Week Old

I should have posted this last week, but, alas, I forgot. I'm starting a series on the blog of Edie each Wednesday until she is one year old. Of course, last Wednesday Edie was one week old.

Introducing Edith Cecelia!

The Bean has arrived.

On Tuesday, I had my regular 38 week checkup with the doctor. Apparently, my uterus was measuring small for the third week in a row, so my doctor had me schedule an ultrasound to check to see if the Bean was growing. At about 3:30 in the afternoon, just a couple hours after my ultrasound, I received a call from my doctor. At this point this is all I heard her say: baby measuring okay, amniotic fluids low, pack bag for hospital, will induced you tomorrow.

So, mildly in shock, I called Kris then packed my bag for the hospital. We arrived at the hospital sometime after 5 p.m. They started me on a medication to get everything going as I was not effaced and my cervix was too high to check. Apparently, with most women, the drug they put me on helps get things started a little bit. Well, it helped me get started a lot, and I was actually going into labor on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. At 6 a.m. the started me on Pitocin, and at around 10 a.m. my doctor broke my water. I handled the pain okay up to that point... then, it was down hill from there. So, at about 11:30 I caved and received the epidural. It was awesome.

Labor progressed quickly after that, and at 1:33 our little Bean was born... a girl!

Introducing our sweet one Edith Cecelia!

She was born 7lb, 1 oz, and 19 1/4 inches long and was named after her great grandmother Edith and her grandmother Leona Cecelia. We are calling her Edie.

I'm sure Kris will have a nice detailed version of Edie's birth story of his own... so, stay tuned for that. I also have some photos from her birth taken by Ann Arbor Miller and some post labor photos from my boss Dave Arntson that I'll try to post next week. Until then, I'm off to enjoy my sleepy baby.
